This is a traditional Teochew (\u6f6e\u5dde) restaurant and I was delighted to try some dishes that I had never come across before.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1150\/4727574436_aa2545250e.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMG_2832\"><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nIt&#8217;s a very old-styled restaurant, so don&#8217;t expect anything fancy.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1182\/4727580592_89df7914ea.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMG_2839\"><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nFirst you&#8217;ll get some tiny cups of Gongfu tea (<a href=\"http:\/\/baike.baidu.com\/view\/21064.htm\">\u529f\u592b\u8336<\/a>). I&#8217;m guessing it helps with digestion. If you can read Chinese, that page link brings you to an explanation of Gongfu tea &#8211; I&#8217;ll translate it when I have the time!<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1048\/4727594910_9082ff7451.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMG_2842\"><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nPickled cabbage to &#8216;awaken&#8217; those tastebuds. These tasted good  &#8211; not too sour with a tinge of sweetness.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1006\/4726957651_bb4782f5ba.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMG_2843\"><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nSpinach and radish in soup &#8211; this was like comfort food. The soup was tasty and the radish was also very sweet and fresh.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1319\/4727619192_013623c317.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMG_2844\"><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nThe fish was actually served like that, with the skin on this side of the fish peeled away to show the flesh. The name of the dish in Chinese is \u99ac\u53cb\u9b5a (Ma Yau Fish) and it is served cold. My dining companions and I liked this dish a lot as the fish was fresh and tasted &#8216;sweet&#8217;.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1043\/4727629578_5aaf4c1117.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMG_2848\"><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nPig&#8217;s big intestines with slices of goose \u5927\u8178\u62fc\u9d5d\u7247<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1252\/4726987315_6f72b5917f.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMG_2849\"><\/a><br \/>\nOyster porridge \u8814\u4ed4\u7ca5<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1206\/4726991891_9a8c0b5be3.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMG_2852\"><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nFried noodles with vinegar and sugar \u70b8\u7cd6\u918b\u9eb5 &#8211; this was an interesting dish that&#8217;s to be eaten by adding vinegar and sugar to it.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1066\/4727007805_5d8889dcd9.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMG_2858\"><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nDeep-fried pig intestines &#8211; these were deliciously sinful! Crisp to the bite and encrusted with some salt, these were great to munch on!<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1054\/4727009281_540598edc1.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMG_2859\"><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nSugar-crusted yam \u53cd\u6c99\u828b &#8211; I had never eaten this dessert before and even though I love yam, I felt this was a bit too sweet.<br \/>\nLok Hau Fook is a good restaurant to go to for traditional Teochew food. Kowloon City is also an interesting area to walk around with its numerous restaurants and food stalls.
