It&#8217;s a less visited part of Taiwan for tourists as there is no high speed rail that goes there. There really isn&#8217;t that much to see in Hualien apart from natural scenery. But as I&#8217;m someone who loves nature, this suited me fine. Here are some snapshots from my few days there.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4139\/4874143573_8257b4429f.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMGP0772\" \/><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nThe mountains of Hualien form an impressive backdrop as we walk away from Hualien&#8217;s main train station.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4100\/4874765748_af80b811fd.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMGP0784\" \/><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nThe magnificent Taroko Gorge (\u592a\u9b6f\u95a3) that is definitely worth a trip.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4098\/4874225537_f5cd273811.jpg\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" alt=\"IMGP0811\" \/><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nWe drove to Taroko Gorge in a car we rented from a car rental service near the train station. The roads at the gorge are narrow and winding, so be very careful if you&#8217;re driving.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4139\/4874577059_fb7f2ca18c.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMGP0850\" \/><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nFrom Hualien city, we drove farther down south and drove along the coastal highway. We were lucky to be blessed with fine weather (albeit a bit hot, but better than encountering a typhoon) while in Taiwan. Driving along the highway with the Pacific Ocean for company, without huge tankers and ship in sight was amazing.
