{"id":1341,"date":"2011-02-15T14:03:43","date_gmt":"2011-02-15T14:03:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dimsumdolly.com\/?p=1341"},"modified":"2011-02-15T14:03:43","modified_gmt":"2011-02-15T14:03:43","slug":"afc_tea_party","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dimsumdolly.net\/?p=1341","title":{"rendered":"AFC Tea Party"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.asianfoodchannel.com\">Asian Food Channel<\/a> hosted a tea party at their studio in Orchard Central for us bloggers where we baked and decorated some sugar cookies.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5052\/5444283484_2edaef83ba.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMGP1984\" \/><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nThe studio, located on the 7th floor, was set for us to work on our cookies, with aprons, rolling pins and cookie cutters all laid out.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5176\/5444285460_487f5338c6.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMGP1985\" \/><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nIn addition to being a studio where cooking programmes are filmed and where cooking classes are conducted, cook books and other kitchenware are sold there. There&#8217;s also a cafe serving coffee, tea and some cakes that are made in-house.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4134\/5443695757_0153427f5f.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMGP1993\" \/><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nChef Sue-Ann Lambert taught us how to make the dough for the cookies using the creaming method.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5100\/5444309030_240259a962.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMGP2000\" \/><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nTo save us time, AFC had already prepared dough for each of us and all we had to do was roll it out and use the cookie cutters to cut out the cookies.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5176\/5444326150_7b911af153.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMGP2009\" \/><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nChef Sue-Ann went on to make some chocolate chip biscotti for us, which we had with coffee.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5295\/5444358196_5fe8384b55.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMGP2027\" \/><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nWhen our cookies were ready, we decorated them with coloured icing sugar and small sugar hearts and lips.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5052\/5444345258_2fb77c84df.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"IMGP2020\" \/><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nHere are my two creations.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5296\/5443764611_7b1513b2d1.jpg\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" alt=\"IMGP2034\" \/><\/a><\/br><br \/>\nAnd my lucky star &#8211; deciding to make a rare appearance &#8211; shone on me that day. I won the lucky draw prize of a pair of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.green-pan.com\/cookware\/intro.asp\">GreenPan<\/a> non-stick frying pans. The pans came at the right time as the one at home needed to replaced. According to GreenPan&#8217;s website, the pans are so named because the non-stick layer is made of a patented material called Thermolon that doesn&#8217;t release toxic fumes if you overheat your pan. When applied on the pots and pans, Thermolon supposedly uses less energy and thus emits less carbon dioxide emissions compared to the use of traditional non-stick material. Well, definitely good to know&#8230;I&#8217;ll see how the pans perform when I use them!<br \/>\nIt was a fun two hours spent with fellow bloggers and the friendly people at AFC.
