\nYes, you guessed it right. I’m back in Hong Kong. I arrived at 1.30pm today and am currently staying in a hotel in Tin Hau, just a few streets away from where I used to live. So what am I doing back in Hong Kong and why the quote from Paulo Coelho above?
\nWell, I’m back in Hong Kong for a new job. In fact, I’m starting work tomorrow. I’ll be working as an English editor in the translation services department of a giant accounting firm. I had interviewed for the position in Feb and got offered the job on the ides of March (i.e. March 15) and the whole of April was spent waiting for the work visa to be processed.
\nSo now I’m in Hong Kong and it feels a little surreal. And perhaps what Paulo Coelho wrote in The Alchemist<\/em> is true. If you want something, the universe does really conspire to help you achieve it. Perhaps the universe realised that I wanted to return to Hong Kong but at a different – and better paying – company. But I also think it’s to do with one’s subconscious. If you want something, your subconscious automatically leads you to do things to make it happen, or seek out opportunities that will bring you closer to your dream.
\nHaving freelanced for the past nine months, it’ll take some time to adjust to a corporate 9-5 job. But for the most part, I’m glad to be back in HK as the job offer here was the best among the ones I got. Plus it suits my skill set more. I do hope to continue freelance writing if I can still manage it.
\nThis time, I’ll stay for at least two years in HK to make my resume look a bit better and earn some proper money in the process. Many thanks to my parents who have been so understanding and indulgent in letting me sponge off them at home and being tolerant of all my funny ideas about wanting to try things like aromatherapy. I guess they knew that I needed to make the mistake and realise it for myself before I would steer myself back to the correct path.
\nNow I know that language is the strength that I should building on and I’ll work hard at this job. I think it’s time I planned more for the future, what with cities like Hong Kong and Singapore getting more and more expensive to live in.
\nI’m starting to ramble nonsense as I’m super-sleepy as I write this. I shall end this blog entry here and head to bed in preparation for my first day at work! More updates to come.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
