This is one of the steepest peaks in Hong Kong and it stands at 344m. On a clear day, you’ll get a magnificent view from the top. You’ll overlook Clear Water Bay, and see Sharp Peak (蚺蛇尖) in Sai Kung at a distance, as well as Hong Kong island and Kowloon.
To get there, we took green minibus 103M from Tsueng Kwan O mtr station (exit A1) and stopped at the bus stop just in front of the Clear Water Bay country trail entrance along Clear Water Bay road (清水灣道).
In this picture, you see the peak of High Junk Peak in the foreground, and the group of islands in the distance is known as the Nine Pin Islands (果洲群島).

Coming down High Junk Peak, you can see Po Toi O (布袋澳), a fishing village. According to Wikipedia, the village is named as such – 布袋 means “sack” – because it is situated at a bay shaped like a sack. From the picture above, I guess it does resemble it somewhat!

After our hike, we sat down to a late lunch at Fai Kee Seafood restaurant where we had a delicious plate of uni (aka sea urchin) fried rice (HKD180). Yum yum. Po Toi O is a sleepy little village with a nice laid-back charm to it – another gem of a place in HK. Must come back again for a more hearty meal.
There is, of course, an easier way to get to Po Toi O. Either take a taxi from Po Lam (寶琳) mtr station or green minibus 16 from the Po Lam bus terminus (just next to the mtr station).
發記海鮮酒家 Fai Kee Seafood Restaurant
西貢清水灣布袋澳碼頭7號A舖 7A Po Toi O Ferry, Sai Kung
Tel: +852 2719 9129

Wanting to get in some hillwork last Saturday, I hiked up High Junk Peak (釣魚翁) last Saturday with a friend.
