The race was a one-day affair and I was paddling with a team from Sydney to help them make up numbers. We made it as far as the semi-finals in the two events we entered and everyone had fun!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8307\/7894656324_5d6feed31a.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2344\" width=\"374\" height=\"500\" \/><br \/>\nOur team ambassadors, Matilda and Roo, who were very popular with the Japanese teams.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8310\/7894655438_0ced22794a.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2341\" width=\"500\" height=\"374\" \/><br \/>\nDragonboats heading towards the finish line.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8445\/7894692254_abcd397d12.jpg\" alt=\"IMGP5736\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" \/><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kaiyukan.com\/language\/eng\/index.htm\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong> &#8211; one of the city&#8217;s main attractions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8302\/7894719676_8cf91c51bd.jpg\" alt=\"IMGP5777\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" \/><br \/>\nThe star of the aquarium, Mr Whale Shark, whom everyone flocks to see and take photos of.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8320\/7894722360_0861f079e0.jpg\" alt=\"IMGP5779\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" \/><br \/>\nSo apparently these are the kinds of jellyfish that will end up on the tables of Chinese banquet dinners.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8169\/7894720348_2a3c982c65.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2369\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><br \/>\nMilking the popularity of the whale shark through merchandise such as these square-shaped fans.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8302\/7894724214_a66c7fd0da.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2371\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><br \/>\nOr maybe you might want to take a magnet home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8443\/7894729712_ca34323aa7.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2372\" width=\"500\" height=\"374\" \/><br \/>\nTiny erasers shaped in the likes of the sea creatures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8308\/7894737880_8e5d5416f0.jpg\" alt=\"IMGP5799\" width=\"282\" height=\"500\" \/><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.osakacastle.net\/english\/\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">Osaka Castle<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/strong> (\u5927\u962a\u57ce) is\u00a0a worth a visit for a cultural and historical take on the city.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8314\/7894742582_97fb1385c8.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2377\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><br \/>\nCan&#8217;t get enough of all that delicious confectionary in Japan &#8211; you&#8217;ll find many of them at the basement level of all big Japanese department stores like Takashimaya, Daimaru and Isetan.
