Some of my favourite food pairings that come to mind for now:<\/p>\n
1. Garlic & Butter: Can anything ever go wrong with this combination?<\/p>\n
2. Chocolate & Coffee: Ever intoxicating Mocha<\/p>\n
3. Strawberries & Chocolate: Perfect blend of sweet and sour<\/p>\n
4. Vanilla & Chocolate: The yin and yang of ice cream. Caveat: I go only for vanilla ice cream made with vanilla beans. No artificial flavourings for me, thank you very much.<\/p>\n
5. Basil & Mozzarella cheese & Cherry tomato: Fit all three onto a toothpick in that order\u00a0and you get the perfect Italian m\u00e9nage \u00e0 trois.<\/p>\n
6. Hot soy milk & youtiao<\/em> (fried doughsticks \u6cb9\u689d): Simple, comfort food. This combination even inspired a love song \u300a\u8c46\u6f3f\u6cb9\u689d\u300b by Singaporean Mandarin pop star JJ Lin.<\/p>\n 7. Soy milk & Chin Chow (grass jelly): So far it’s a combination I’ve come across only in Singapore. The drink is known as \u9ed1\u767d (literally ‘black and white’) at the Mr Bean and Jollibean outlets. Another Singaporean item I miss.<\/p>\n 8. Pancakes & Maple syrup: One of my breakfast favourites.<\/p>\n 9. Scones & Devonshire cream: So fattening but oh-so-delicious when it’s the perfect buttery\u00a0scone. And please,\u00a0NO raisins! \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n 10. Spanish hot chocolate & Churros: This is, to me, the Spanish equivalent of \u8c46\u6f3f\u6cb9\u689d but with 100 times the calories of the latter. I remember the delightful delirium I\u00a0was in\u00a0when I had this for breakfast\u00a0– it’s never too early for chocolate – while holidaying in Spain.
