“Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” – Forrest Gump<\/p><\/div>\n

Well, just in case you were wondering, the box of chocolates pictured above do belong to me. They were given to me by a colleague who wanted to thank me for helping her edit some of her documents. It was a really nice gesture which I appreciated.<\/p>\n

Anyhow, life can certainly bring some unexpected changes sometimes. I wasn’t actually planning on looking for a new job but news of some restructuring within my department at work made me look for other pastures to graze in. By a stroke of luck, the company where a good friend works had an opening for an editor. Anyway, after going through three interviews and taking a written test \u2013 in English and Chinese (!!!) \u2013 where I both passed and flunked the respective sections with flying colours, I was offered the job. Everything happened within about 2.5 weeks and it\u2019s the shortest time ever for me when it comes to looking for and landing a suitable job. Yet again, it demonstrates that timing and luck can play a huge role in life\u2019s journey.<\/p>\n

To be honest, I wasn\u2019t particularly worried about the restructuring. First, it wasn\u2019t like I was going to be laid off immediately and two, my backup plan if I couldn\u2019t find another job was to be a full-time student. In any case, I had faith that things would work itself out somehow. And it did!<\/p>\n

So there will be big changes ahead for me, what with the start of a new job in August and the start of my Master\u2019s programme in September. Even though my new job will be a lot more demanding on my time, I\u2019m looking forward to the change and the new things I\u2019ll learn. Likewise with school.
