It&#8217;s there where you really see how the locals live, the local produce, and the food they eat. The wet markets I came across in Phnom Penh were bustling with activity and filled with fresh supplies of fish and tropical fruits. There were even bugs, which were a tad too exotic for my palate. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dimsumdolly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/wpid-pic20140224203426.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"pic20140224203426.jpg\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dimsumdolly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/wpid-pic20140224203426.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bananas grilled over charcoal are a popular street snack and I saw many carts like that around the city. Baguettes are also a legacy of the French who once occupied Cambodia. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dimsumdolly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/wpid-pic20140224204317.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"pic20140224204317.jpg\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dimsumdolly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/wpid-pic20140224204317.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Central Market in Phnom Penh is a place catered to both tourists and locals alike. Tourists head for the stalls that sell souvenirs, T-shirts, and handicrafts. The locals head to the wet market and the part that sells kitchenware. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dimsumdolly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/wpid-pic20140224204656.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"pic20140224204656.jpg\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dimsumdolly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/wpid-pic20140224204656.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lots of handicrafts to be found. Hammocks (all bunched up in the bottom of the picture above) are like national furniture &#8211; every household has at least one. I bought one for myself for US$3 in the hopes that one day I will find a place to use it! <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dimsumdolly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/wpid-pic20140223130312.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"pic20140223130312.jpg\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dimsumdolly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/wpid-pic20140223130312.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>No trip to Phnom Penh is complete without a trip to the Royal Palace. Only a small section is open to the public.
