The row of houses in the middle row are the Hanseatic buildings of Bryggen (Norwegian for <em>quay<\/em>), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These used to be warehouses for goods imported from Northern Norway and Europe; today museums, shops, restaurants and pubs stand in their place.<\/p>\n<p>Floibanen, the funicular in Bergen, takes you up to Mount Floyen where you can take in a panoramic and spectacular view of the city.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dimsumdolly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/wpid-img_20140630_065019.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full aligncenter\" title=\"IMG_20140630_065019.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dimsumdolly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/wpid-img_20140630_065019.jpg\" alt=\"image\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Being a port city, it is no surprise that Bergen is a seafood paradise. I tucked into some wild Norwegian salmon, fresh prawns, Alaskan crab and mussels. It&#8217;d be a sin to visit and not try these jewels from the sea.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dimsumdolly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/wpid-img-20140705-wa0110.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full aligncenter\" title=\"IMG-20140705-WA0110.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dimsumdolly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/wpid-img-20140705-wa0110.jpg\" alt=\"image\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A pensive me looking out to the city as I ride up the funicular. I&#8217;m happiest when I&#8217;m travelling and discovering new places.<\/p>\n<p>Despite being the second most populous (274,400 according to Wikipedia) city in Norway, Bergen is actually very quiet compared to most cities in Asia. It&#8217;s very pleasant with lots of greenery and pretty, colourful houses. Definitely a great place to spend summer and do some hiking.
