Well, at least they can be….especially those chatty ones. In Singapore, all you have to do is start on the topic of food, and these cabbies will start rattling off about where’s the best place to eat what.
\nBut this is not about food. It’s just one of those things I’ve noticed about taxi drivers.
\nThe driver of the taxi I got into last night at 1.30am was really nice. He made some small talk, asking me about my job…like do I usually have to work this late etcetc. When we arrived at my block, he asked if I needed him to walk me to the lift just in case it was dangerous for me to wait for the lift alone. If he were some cute hunk, shallow superficial me might have taken up the offer. But no, he wasn’t. Dammit. Anyway, I thanked him for being so thoughtful and said there was really no need to as it’s really safe. It’s really nice to know that there are such good people around.
\nAfter pulling another all-nighter today, I left the office at about 10 past 12mn today. (No, I don’t intend to better the previous night’s record! ) I got into a taxi and this time, the driver made small talk in his, erm, unique way.
\nSo we’re cruising along, and suddenly he lets out a loud and long burp. Eeeewwww. Then five minutes later, he lets out another sound–a fart! Tell me, what’s a gal to do in such a situation???
\nI waited for awhile–to see if I would be choked to death by the fumes. Surprisingly, I didn’t really smell anything. Maybe my senses have been numbed by all the work I’ve been doing. But if I did feel asphyxiated, I would have wound down the windows to save my life!
\nWhy do such things always happen to me???<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Everyone knows that taxi drivers are an interesting lot.
