Argh. But I’ve just had a cup of green tea. I think I’m ready to start the day.
Friday night–was at China Club, high up on the 52nd floor of Capital Tower which is a 3-minute walk away from my office. The view there was lovely! A very posh place, but I was there for this networking night thingy organised by the Australian Alumni Singapore (AAS) which is an association meant for graduates of Australian universities.
I was curious about AAS so decided to take a look. There were people from other alumni associations as well. These networking thingies are really schmoozing sessions and superficial events, but ah well, it’s quite nice to meet new people and make small talk once in a while even though you know you’ll never see these people ever again!
Saturday–met up with two uni mates for tea at Marmalade Pantry. For drinks, I had a Tangy, which is just a freshly squeezed cup of fruit juice made up of Apple, Lemon and Ginger. It’s a fantastic pick-me-up! Full of zest and thoroughly refreshing! I’m definitely going to try this concoction at home.
The three of us then ordered a dessert each to share. We ordered the Chocolate Tart, Chocolate Truffle cake and a Apple & Rhubarb Crumble. All three desserts sent us to heaven!
The tart and truffle gave us our chocolate fix for the day with their richness and texture which was as smooth as silk. The apple & rhubarb crumble complemented the chocolate well with its slightly sour taste. The scoop of vanilla ice-cream which came with the crumble was probably the best vanilla ice-cream I’ve ever had! The flakes from the vanilla beans used to make the ice-cream were visible, which told us that this was real vanilla we were eating, and not just ordinary ice-cream with vanilla essence.
It’s strange how apple crumble or apple pie goes well only with vanilla ice-cream. No other flavour will do. It’s just one of those things in the world which has to go together.
So anyway, we ate with relish and came away thoroughly satisfied, deciding that it’s a place we would visit again.
After that, one friend left, and the other friend and I went shopping. The original intention was to go window shopping, but as expected, we threw the “window” out of the window. I bought 3 tops and my friend ended up with 3 skirts and a top. We shopped for four continuous hours, stopping only when the shops closed for the day. I’m going to limit myself to such shopping trips to once a month…can’t afford to do this too often!
Sunday–Had my first tennis lesson! I decided that I want to learn how to play tennnis properly and I’ve finally gotten down to it after months of deliberation. So together with my sis, we had our first lesson and we’re now learning to hit a proper forehand. I’m enjoying it and I’m looking forward to hitting more balls!
So anyway, that was my weekend. Hope all who read this post had a good one too!

Monday mornings are difficult. Argh. But I’ve just had a cup of green tea.
