Awhile ago, I came across an article that said passion and pain are both sides of the same coin. Passion, it said, can be defined as how much pain you’re willing to endure. Because passion isn’t easy. For example, getting that killer bod involves lots of hard work and pain in working out. Being at the top of your game in a sport requires discipline \u2013 waking up early to train, and training in the cold of winter and the heat of summer. Getting your new business venture on track, the one you’ve poured your heart, soul and money in, requires lots of dedication and endless hours at work. You get the idea.<\/p>\n
I guess my passion lies in sports and stretching myself in competitions. When I decide to participate in a race, whether it was dragonboat, outrigger or hiking, I would make sure I do my best to train for it. I don’t want to put in a half-ass effort. It’s either train properly or don’t do it at all. And trust me, it is physically painful when your muscles burn and lungs scream.<\/p>\n
I also love travelling, so I save up for trips. I never travel on credit, so I’m careful with my expenditure. I have to deny myself certain things so that I may have a holiday in return.<\/p>\n
The idea that passion equals pain appeals to me. It reminds me that no one owes me a living and that I have to put in effort to get the things I want in life.<\/p>\n
