At one point towards the end of the hike, some of the hikers in my group went to grab a bite, while another hiker and I decided to venture to another spot on the island.<\/p>\n<p>We got to a lookout point marked by a huge boulder and the other hiker decided she would meditate for awhile. I then went off to find my own quiet spot about 15m away. While my fellow hiker went to find her zen in the lotus position, I sat cross-legged on a flat rock and looked out to the sea and the boats passing through the channel.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not good with this meditation and zen state of mind thing. But every time I&#8217;m out hiking and I get a chance to sit down and admire the scene before me, I get close to such a state. It&#8217;s a peaceful state of mind which is rare to achieve during the work week.
