<\/p>\nI have been incredibly lazy with my blog this year but I thought I shouldn’t miss out on my look back on the year past.<\/p>\n
January<\/b><\/p>\n
I packed up and said goodbye to Hong Kong, a city I had lived in for most of my 30s. I had an amazing seven years there but it was time for a change. I flew out of Hong Kong the night of 16 January and arrived in sunny Sydney the morning of 17 January.<\/p>\n
Relocating to a new city and country is a huge move and not the easiest thing especially when you are without a partner. But almost a year on, I am glad I made the move as I am enjoying the city.<\/p>\n
Also, I put down a deposit on a one bedroom unit a week after I arrived! It’s still being constructed at the moment and I’m expecting to move in some time in March 2018.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
February<\/b><\/p>\n
Started my first day of work on 1 February. Starting in a new work place is like being the new kid in school.<\/p>\n
March<\/b><\/p>\n
Three friends visited and we went on a road trip to Leura. It was good fun catching up with those friends from Singapore.<\/p>\n
April<\/b><\/p>\n
My mum and two other good friends visited with their families. That’s a lot of visitors for my third month in Sydney! Still, it’s always nice to see family and friends.<\/p>\n
May<\/b><\/p>\n
Sadly, my grandaunt passed away at the end of May and I rushed back to Singapore to attend her funeral. At the request of her children, I delivered the eulogy. The last time I saw her was Christmas day in 2016 and I didn’t realise at that time that it would be the last time I’d see her.<\/p>\n
June – August<\/b><\/p>\n
June to August weren’t great months as I was injured. I had a pinged nerve at the base of my neck, a fractured left big toe and a sprained left ankle. I was also down with the the flu and cough. Suffice to say, I wasn’t enjoying myself at all.<\/p>\n
September<\/b><\/p>\n
Back to Singapore and Asia for two months! Apart from Singapore I spent a week in Hong Kong. It felt like seeing an old friend again and I was happy to catch up with my friends as well as the city. While I do miss Hong Kong in some ways, I also felt that part of my life was over and I don’t think I could go back to living there again.<\/p>\n
October<\/b><\/p>\n
Visited Laos with my mum. Loved Luang Prabang as it was a charming city with its French colonial buildings.<\/p>\n

I returned back to Sydney at the end of October and was happy that I managed to catch up with many friends.<\/p>\n
November<\/b><\/p>\n
Turned 39!<\/p>\n
December<\/b><\/p>\n
Spent two weeks in Japan! It’s always a delight to visit Japan and that was my fourth visit in 10 years.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n
In the last week of December, I went on a road trip with my uncle, aunt and cousins to the central west of New South Wales. We visited Bathurst, Orange, Dubbo, Gulgong and Mudgee. We good fun going cherry picking, berry picking, wine tasting and cheese tasting at these country towns.<\/p>\n
All in all, 2017 was a good year apart from the death of my grandaunt.<\/p>\n
