It’s the last day of 2019 and the plan was actually to spend the day bushwalking but the smoke haze from the bushfires have foiled our plans for the day. Strong winds are blowing the haze towards us and the air is too smoky for vigorous exercise.<\/p>\n
News of the bushfires which have gone out of control in Australia have hit global headlines and it’s no exaggeration to say that things are bad. On the drive to the Snowy Mountains, the farm land we came across were all yellow and parched, and the water holes were dry, leaving nothing for the cattle and sheep to eat and drink. It’s so sad to see. Motorways are at risk of being closed any time – hopefully we can make our way back to Sydney on 2 January!<\/p>\n
Anyway now my fellow bushwalkers and I have a whole day to spare. Bushwalkers are a restless bunch; we don’t do well sitting around especially with mountains surrounding us. I have a physical book with me and several e-books loaded on my mobile to pass time, but still, sitting around is just not my thing.<\/p>\n
In any case, this might be a good opportunity to learn to slow down and quieten the mind. And hey, it’s giving me time to pen some words.<\/p>\n
After I uploaded my “2019 in review” post, I had a reader, Greg, sending me an email to encourage me to carry on with the blog. Another reader, Jeremiah, left a comment, offering encouragement to do the same. I had never heard or known of these two people before this, but I’d like to thank both of them for their kind words!<\/p>\n
We have a New Year’s Eve party planned for tonight and we will welcome the new year and new decade together in the lodge we have all to ourselves. So here’s a Happy New Year to everyone and let’s hope that 2020 will be a good year for whatever you are planning!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
