It looks like my friends and I were lucky to get out of the Snowies when we did. Today, tourists down in the south coast (near the border with Victoria) were told to evacuate as soaring temperatures are expected on Saturday. As such, there is a huge exodus of people and cars trying to drive back to Sydney via the same roads we had taken two days ago.<\/p>\n
As one can imagine, this means cars are bumper to bumper, and what’s worse, petrol supplies are insufficient to cater to the flow of traffic. What a disaster.<\/p>\n
So thankful again to be back in Sydney safe and sound! I really hope some rain comes soon; the situation is so grim right now.<\/p>\n
On a selfish note, there’s hardly any bushland left to go bushwalking, what with everything having been burnt. I had been planning on doing a lot more camping over weekends this year, but that’s not going to happen now. Sigh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
