Dinner at Aqua<\/b>, a fusion cuisine (Italian and Japanese) restaurant at the top of One Peking building at Peking Road, TsimShaTsui, was a rather posh affair. My colleague and I met up with an author we both work with just to touch base. Due to the nature of our work, we’re usually behind the computer, typing away all day. So being able to meet the people we work with in the flesh is always a welcomed disruption to the routine. It’s always good to be able to put a face to the name.
\nThe dinner venue wasn’t of our choosing. It was suggested by our author and we were really pleased by her choice really, ‘cos the both of us knew it was a very trendy restaurant! Heehee.
\nWhen we arrived at One Peking building, we took the lift up to the 29th floor where the lift doors opened to the reception area of the restaurant. After confirming our reservation, we were led to our seats. We turned left, and face a curtain of small white beads. Like the separation of the Red Sea, the white beaded curtains parted automatically and we found ourselves inside a restaurant whose interior is probably best described as chinois chic<\/i>. Pretty cool. The restaurant was surrounded by clear glass panels, giving diners a fantastic view of the Hong Kong Island skyline. It would have been a lovely view ‘cept for the fact that it was really hazy tonight. Bummer.
\nFor drinks, I ordered some Sapporo beer. My appetizer was some foie gras thingy with balsamic vinegar. Can’t quite remember the exact things inside the dish, but it was yums. My main dish was the pumpkin-filled tortellini with sauteed lobster. Delicious!
\nWas planning to eat this half-baked foudant chocolate cake for dessert but the staff said it needed 20min of preparation time. However, we were told we needed to leave the restaurant at 8pm as someone else had already reserved it for that time. I wasn’t prepared to wait 20min for my dessert and have only 10min to eat it. So I gave it a miss. Sigh. That chocolate cake sounded damn good!
\nIn the end, I ended up having dessert at Fountain Tea, a tea place along the streets of TsimShaTsui. Had THREE scoops of ice-cream–Chocoalte cinnamon, ginger and Mango. Eeeks.
\nAqua’s definitely a fine-dining place. Very lovely view from the top…the sort of place a guy would want to bring a gal to to impress. The food’s also much better than The Peak Lookout too! Nice, but be prepared to spend!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
