{"id":564,"date":"2005-05-03T08:38:42","date_gmt":"2005-05-03T08:38:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dimsumdolly.com\/?p=564"},"modified":"2005-05-03T08:38:42","modified_gmt":"2005-05-03T08:38:42","slug":"madeira_cake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dimsumdolly.net\/?p=564","title":{"rendered":"Madeira Cake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I felt like baking yesterday and so I scoured my mum&#8217;s recipe book for an easy-to-make-cake recipe.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/photos11.flickr.com\/11957333_6958776fac_m.jpg\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" alt=\"Madeira Cake 2_blog\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nAnyway, I came up with this cake which was called a Madeira Cake. To me, it&#8217;s pretty much like a butter cake but I don&#8217;t know why it has such a fancy name.<br \/>\nHaving not baked for a really long time, I had forgotten things like beating in the eggs into the mixture little by little. I just dumped all the eggs in at one go. And the flour went in the same way. My mum was quite appalled at the way I was doing everything wrongly. Haha.<br \/>\nBut surprisingly the cake didn&#8217;t turn out too bad considering my unorthodox ways of preparation. At least it looked decent. Well, it tasted decent too. The sweetness was just right, but I think it turned out a tad dry. To think that the recipe said to bake for an hour! I took it out from the oven at 50min and it was rather dry already!
