It was such a gorgeous day today that it would have been an absolute sin to not get out of the house and enjoy the sun. I went to the Botanic Gardens with a friend this afternoon. The Botanic Gardens is just next to the Sydney Opera House so it’s really easy to get there.
\nSuch a lovely spot of green in the heart of the city! I know I’ve said this a thousand times but I have to say it again – I’m sssoooooo jealous of Sydneysiders for having such a gorgeous city to live in. No fair.
\nSo we just picked a spot, kicked off our shoes, took off the socks, and let our bare feet come in contact with the grass. Sometimes I feel like I’m this earth fairy who needs to recharge my magical powers and stay alive by soaking in sunlight and coming into contact with Mother Earth regularly.
\nMy friend and I just sat on the grass, soaked in the sun, chatted and ate our sandwich while looking out to the yachts and ferries that sailed in the harbour. Many joggers ran past, other people were sitting and chatting just like us, some women wore bikinis and suntanned, while the men took off their shirts to allow their torsos to be bronzed by the sun (they made for great eye candy ;p ).
\nI only managed to spend a leisurely 2 hours there before I had to bid my friend farewell to make my way back to Chatswood to teach my three Japanese students. My friend remained behind to enjoy more of the sun.
\nAnyway, I enjoyed myself today simply by being out in the sun and seeing some water. I’m going to miss this when I leave Sydney. In any case, I hope everyone who reads this had a good Wednesday whereever you may be. And to my friends May & Vanessa who are in Edinburgh and Michigan respectively, here’s sending some warm sunshine over to you from Down Under!
