I dislike the five pairs of words that are in the title of this blog post. Why?
“What if” is often used by people with some kind of anxiety, as if there is some impending doom. An element of pessimism is usually attached to the use of it. Don’t like that.
“If only”, “should have”, “could have” and “would have” ring of regret, lost chances, missed opportunities, and depression. Rumination is a waste of time and energy. Stop it. Concentrate on the present instead.
