the different morsels of the life of a foodie

Taking Stock of November

1. I worked on three articles for a local women’s magazine and got to do some eating in the progress. The first article was about cooking schools overseas (unfortunately I didn’t get to go to any I wrote about), the second about the eateries in an area in Singapore, and the last about cognac. The articles will appear in the January issue. I’m looking forward to seeing my byline.
2. Went on a blind date that was set up by my good friend, D. The guy was the brother of a good friend of hers and she had engineered the meet-up because he’s a very sporty person. While I’d like to regale you with a whirlwind romance story, the reality is that it was a pleasant dinner but there weren’t enough sparks to warrant a second meeting. So I’m still on the prowl. ;p
3. Spent a few days in my beloved Hong Kong. It felt so good to be back and to hang out with friends. Managed a hike up Sunset Peak with my hiking buddies. I’ve left my heart in the mountains and seas of Hong Kong. Sigh…
4. Been applying for jobs but no luck so far.
5. Been reflecting and thinking about the future, life, spirituality, money matters etc. Watching some TV programmes and reading about other people’s life stories has made me more reflective and made me realise that there are many things I should be thankful for. I may be in a trough at the moment but I guess as long as I keep trying, I will find a way out.
6. D and I made plans last night to spend New Year’s Eve at her place watching Miyazaki’s anime films. I had the option of going to Boat Quay to count down to the new year with some newfound friends and a whole lot of other strangers but I decided I didn’t want to do so. I’d much rather have a nice, quiet time with one of my closest friends.
Goodbye November and let’s hope the month of December will be an interesting one and a good one to round off 2010.
