Still Sick

Believe it or not, I’m STILL sick. I’m so sick of being sick. As of today, I’ve been ill for two weeks with this persistent sinusitis and a nagging cough. It’s terribly annoying to say the least. I’ve seen both the Western meds doctor and traditional Chinese meds doctor (two of them no less) and have spent close to S$500 on medical bills in the past two weeks!!
It was also with this bout of illness that I fully realise how scarily inflation has taken place in Singapore. One really can’t afford to fall sick in Singapore as healthcare costs are really through the roof. A good friend said that when we start remarking on how expensive things have become it shows we’re aging. I’m beginning to think that’s true. Another friend told me that now a bowl of noodles will cost about S$2 in a school. When I was in school eons ago, a bowl of noodles cost me 30 cents.
Anyway, I’ve burnt such a huge hole in my pocket just to find a cure for my constant sniffles and coughs. I’ve been plagued by so many health problems of late. Due to the walkathon I did on Dec 18, I’m now suffering from this condition called Plantar fasciitis. It is an inflammation of the plantar fascia, which is a ‘thick fibrous band of connective tissue originating on the bottom surface of the calcaneus (heel bone) and extending along the sole of the foot towards the five toes’ (quote from Wikipedia). I’ve been advised by the doctor to stop running and not do long walks. Well, I have only myself to blame for attempting to walk 50km without training. I only managed 35km as by then I was literally hobbling and limping.
So there hasn’t been much going on with me for the past two weeks as more often than not, I’ve been holed up at home because I haven’t had much energy to do anything else. I hope you, dear reader, are having much more fun than I am at the moment!
