Two days ago I was asked to write about myself in 80-100 words for the Contributors page of the next issue of Tatler Brides magazine. The editor called me up and said she wanted to include me in the Contributors page (I reviewed two spas) and apart from describing myself in a short paragraph I also had to provide a photo.
Damn, same problem – STILL no good pic. Anyway, I’ve given the same photo. And to think this is another magazine that’s about high fashion and luxury living. I’m so hopeless when it comes to these glam-ed up stuff.
But the bigger challenge was in writing a 100-word summary of myself. How do I make it sound interesting, while at the same time giving a glimpse of the person I am and what I do for a living? Perhaps it’s because I’ve been writing quite a lot recently, so I didn’t take long to pen something that sounded pretty OK for a lifestyle magazine. I think sub-editing for L’Officiel has also helped to make me able to write in a more casual tone better suited for lifestyle magazines.
As to what I came up with, I’ll put it up when the magazine’s out. Stay tuned.
