Just read about this society called the Slow Food Convivium Society in Singapore whose chairman, Mr Jen Shek Voon, was interviewed in today’s papers. Asked exactly what the Slow Food Movement was about, he said that the movement which was founded in Italy in 1986, “is for people to enjoy meals and tastings without a concern for time. It also believes in preserving traditional food produce and the way it has always been prepared and served”.
Apparently the members meet once a month and each time they eat about six courses over four hours. Tasting events are not restricted to any particular type of cuisine, rather the society believes in enjoying the different international cuisines that are available in Singapore.
