It’s a little embarrassing that at 25 years of age, I still don’t know how to apply makeup properly. Well ok, I do the basic foundation and blusher, but anything more complicated than that and I’m as lost as the sheep that Little Bo-Beep lost.
Don’t ask me how to line my eyes, apply mascara, blend eyeshadow colours, or mix lipstick colours. Any of these questions will only warrant a blank stare from me. I don’t even use lipstick ‘cos I hate the feel of it on my lips. Thanks to some good genes from my mum, I don’t really require mascara as my lashes are long enough as it is. Heh. In any case, I’m too lazy to bother with anything too elaborate.
The night before last, at my friend’s wedding, I had to enlist help from the bride’s sister to apply makeup that is a tad more elaborate than the basic foundation and blusher. It was a little embarrassing to appear so lost amidst all the makeup she placed in front of me. Anyhow, I figured I wasn’t the bride so I didn’t need to look so good.
The night went pretty well. We had good food and wine amidst some song and dance. I had a couple of sips of the excellent white wine and ended up feeling a little sleepy. Thankfully I was still awake enough to drive myself home.
So tomorrow’s Valentine’s Day. I’ve got a date with four boys. WAIT – before you start wowing, these are 12-year-old monsters who cannot sit still in an English lesson.
I’m absolutely brimming with excitement at the prospect of seeing them tomorrow.
