East Coast Park at about 7 in the morning.
Had a great day at the East Coast Park today! A good friend from uni asked me along to a cycling activity which her church organised. It was one of those a la “Amazing Race” kind of race. We were divided into groups and we had to find answers to the clues given while cycling around the park.
The weather was great – nice and sunny! I think the East Coast Park is one of the nicest spots in Singapore. There were many cyclists, rollerbladers, people having BBQs, people swimming in the sea, people walking their dogs, and I even got to play with a Jack Russell puppy! It was so adorable that I almost wanted to kidnap it.
Halfway, my group stopped at the hawker centre where we bought sugarcane juice to quench our thirst. The sugarcane juice was a delightful thirst-quencher. And at Bedok Jetty we saw this huge stingray, all 28kg of it, which a man caught. Pretty amazing….never expected such creatures to be caught in the waters of Singapore!
At the end of the day, all were winners. Everyone had fun and we ended the day with a hearty alfresco lunch of bruschettas, calamari and pizzas at Pasta Fresca. Personally I would have preferred local fare, but the food was not too bad.
Well, it’s now time for me to wind down after all that cycling. This was the first time I’ve seen the sea ever since I got back from Sydney. To be outdoors, near the sea and enjoying the sea breeze was a much needed break from the monotony of being in air-conditioned buildings.
I think I should take up a new sport. Learn something new and something to get me out in the sun more often. We’ll see how things go.
