I don’t know what the hell I’m doing up at this time of the day. It’s ridiculous, considering the fact that I got home slightly past 2am. I think I’m suffering from insomnia. I woke up at 4am after getting a bit of sleep and just tossed and turned in bed. Finally at 5am, I decided to get up and just surf the Net, and possibly work on some articles I have to write.
I was hanging out at a friend’s place last night. She and her husband host great dinner parties ‘cos the food is always good. Well, it wasn’t a party but more of a small gathering of friends. We originally planned for a bbq by the pool but the sky didn’t hold up. Bummer.
In the end, the gathering was brought indoors. We had to bake and pan-fry all the food instead. Vegetarians would have scoffed at us. There was chicken, pork, beef, lamb and fish, and we were tearing at the meat with our bare hands. I must admit it was quite a gross sight – five modern day 20somethings sitting round a table tearing at meat and dumping it into our mouths like we were back in the stone age. But heck, who’s watching?
Being connoiseurs of wine and spirits of all sorts, there is no going away from this couple’s home without consuming some form of alcohol. Last night, to celebrate the couple’s one-year anniversary of the registration of their marriage (they had their customary wedding a couple of weeks back), we popped a 15-year-old vintage champagne which was a wedding gift to them. I don’t profess to know much about champagne or wine or alcohol of any sorts, but I did think the champagne tasted really good.
After dinner, it was just a lot of chatting and we spent some time playing some driving game on the X-Box. There’s nothing like the combination of good food and good company!
Anyway, just thought that I had to make an entry today just because it’s 29 Feb. Hey, I only get to write on this date once in every four years!
