…I’d want it to be a page-turner, one that would ideally be a combination of these elements: action and adventure, travel, food, romance.

Action and adventure: The protagonist would always be in search of the next outdoor sport or event to try. Outrigger canoeing with dolphins swimming alongside in Hawaii, skiing down the Alps, kayaking in New Zealand, trekking in the Himalayas? Yes I want all that in my book.

Travel: I fancy some narratives about a safari adventure in Tanzania and Kenya. Or perhaps head up to the arctic circle in the north of Scandinavia to see the northern lights. One great South American adventure through Argentina, Brazil and Peru would add variety and interest to the plot as well.

Food: Mouth-watering descriptions and tantalising photos of foods from around the world would be a must. How about chapters describing cooking lessons and food in Singapore, Hong Kong, Italy, France, Japan and Korea?

Romance: Ah men, the source of both immeasurable happiness and misery. A few dalliances that serve as minor characters will add spice to the plot and build up to the appearance of that one great love. Clichéd but doesn’t every reader love a happy ending? And I have to admit, I am a sucker for one.
