
Took the CRH (China Railway High-Speed) train from Luohu to Guangzhou. In Chinese, the train system is called 和谐号. The journey takes about 1h 15min and it’s a comfortable ride with trains comparable to those in Europe.

The streets of Shamian Island, a sandbank island which was occupied by the French and British during the Qing Dynasty. The colonial architecture is a nice change from all the modern skyscrapers and buildings in the rest of the city.

Tree-lined avenues in Shamian – the place is a very popular spot for to-be married couples to take their wedding photos. We saw many couples in bridal gown and suit having their wedding portraits taken.
