Me revelling in the sunshine and scenery of Palm Beach, Sydney, up on a hill
…would I have any regrets and what would I be happy for having done? Well, not that I really believe an apocalypse is going to descend upon humankind, but if it did I think I would leave this world knowing that I have only a few regrets.
Here’s what I’d be thankful for and stuff I’m happy to have achieved or done:
1. Parents who love and tolerate me despite my wilfulness and the bad decisions I make
2. Family and friends who love me
3. For parents who took my sister and me travelling from a young age and putting the travel bug in us
4. Being brave enough to up and leave to work in London and Hong Kong, with the latter twice over
5. Travelling on my own to many cities around the world
6. Being able to see the sakuras in bloom in Japan with my mum
7. Going along the Great Ocean Road in Australia with my mum
8. Seeing snow actually falling from the sky – it’s a big deal for a tropical animal like me
9. Being healthy enough to engage in sports and activities that have taken me to amazingly beautiful rivers, seas, oceans, hills, mountains and waterfalls in different parts of the world
10. Being healthy enough to eat lots of wonderful food around the world
Things I regret:
1. Not having experienced what it’s like to fall so truly and deeply in love that would lead to someone promising himself to me and I to him
2. Not having experienced what it’s like to be a mother
3. Not having seen the many parts of the world I have yet to see: South America, Africa, the Egyptian pyramids, New Zealand, Tibet, Himalayas, etcetc.
So there’s my list pretty much. And what would your list look like, dear reader?
