In the search for the fountain of youth, people are now turning to voice surgery to sound younger. Sigh…the things people do.
While we’re on this subject of voices, I answered to a voice talent ad I saw in the Classified ads today. It was a two-liner saying “Voice Talent Required. Pls call #### or email XXXX.” Soon after I emailed, I got a call from a lady who said she would email me a sample script. After which I would have to call a number to do a voice recording.
Here’s the sample script:
“Hi you have just call through Ladies Line. This service is restricted
to 18 years and above. This line is open exclusively for ladies. Your
chat partner is restricted to guys only. If you would like to chat with
anyone on the line, please call 1900 912 1900. Oh, before we start,
here is a little remainder for u. No unpleasant or offensive language is
used in this chatline, please.”
When I saw it, I was like “Oh god, this is so dodgy.” But what the heck, I was curious so I called the number and just rattled off. The lady said she’d let me know if her client decides to pick me. You never know – I might end up as one of those girls who are employed by these chatlines to chat to men who call up.
There was a report recently about how these chatlines hire women to pretend to be one of those lonely hearts. Apparently a lot more men than women call up these chatlines, hence the need to “plant” women to make up for the lack of numbers. These chatlines are ridiculous – they charge about 50cents a minute and these people end up paying hundreds of dollars! I can’t believe people actually fall for such scams.
I’m curious to see where this so-called voice talent thingy goes. I doubt I’ll hear from that lady again. My voice doesn’t exactly sound sexy or enticing enough. Hahaha.
