It’s been a long day —
9:10am – Called the company to accept their job offer. The offer was actually made on Wed but I was weighing other options and finally decided on it this morning. It’s not exactly my dream job ‘cos I won’t be writing much. I’ll mainly be looking at news that come in from the wires and uploading them to the website. But I’m hoping it’ll be a stepping stone to other things. Oh well, I guess I should just start on something. If not for anything, the company name will look good on the resume.
Am starting work on Monday. I am, strangely, calm about the whole thing. I’m not ecstatic, rather the feeling is one of relief. I’m mentally exhausted and I’m glad I don’t have to go for anymore interviews. I mean, I certainly would like more people to have a look at my beautiful face but I think that there’s been enough exposure in the past couple of months. I should shy away from publicity and lie low for the moment. ;p
9:30am – Arrived at the company after a 15-min walk from home to collect the pre-employment medical examination forms.
10:15am – Arrived at the clinic at to have my pre-employment medical checkup. Blood pressure was taken, eyesight was checked, height and weight taken, X-ray and urine sample taken. Speaking of the latter, the silly clinic gives a container with such a small opening to pee into! Like hello??? I’m a gal not a guy! Not easy to aim you know!
11:45am – Finally managed to get over and done with the medical examination. My dad very kindly picked me up and gave me a lift to the airport to pick Chungking up.
12:45pm – Chungking struts out carrying only a small backpack. Yeah!
1:15pm – Chungking & Saz (Chungking’s Singaporean friend) come to my place for a short while as I had to rush home to reply to an important email.
1:45pm – We take a bus to Little India. It was a bit of a novelty for me too. I haven’t been to Little India in ages and I was taking more pictures of the place than Chungking was! Haha.
3pm – Had a late lunch at an Indian eatery serving South Indian vegetarian food. Very yummy!
3:45pm – Saz brought us to Sungei Road flea market where there are lots of second-hand goods. First time I’ve been there after all these years! After that, we walked to Arab Street. We walked around till about 5:30pm after which we went to have a drink at a cafe.
7pm – Walked to the hotel Raffles the Plaza and just lounged at the comfortable couches at the lobby while we waited for UrbanNomad to join us for dinner at 7.30pm.
The night ended at about 10:20pm after all the chatting over dinner. Had heaps of fun today!
