Farewell

Now let’s see what I’ve been doing in the past couple of days…
Last Friday, my colleagues organised a farewell lunch for me and an intern who’s leaving. Very nice of them. I also now have the dubious honour of the shortest-lived employee in that particular position. As a going-away gift, they gave me a Lonely Planet guidebook and map for Beijing as I had told them I would be required to travel there in my new job.
I wished I had gotten more time to get to know these bunch of people better as I get along really well with them. Nevertheless, I’ll definitely be keeping in touch with the ones I’m closer to. Although it was a short stint, I did learn new things and I’m also glad that I got to know more people.
On Sat, I took Rex (my collie) to the vet as he had a big growth in his testicles which needed to be remove. It’s all to do with old age. Anyway, he had to stay the night for surgery and is now back home. Poor dog’s now a enunch.
Sat night also saw me attending a performance by the Singapore Youth Choir. A friend who had free tickets asked me along. It was a really good performance which saw a variety of English, Tagalog, Mandarin and Malay songs being sung. Much practice had obviously gone into the performance (which they will be taking to Italy for some competition) as some of the technically difficult songs were sung with much deftness.
This morning before going to work, I met up with monomania and we went to watch Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Of the three Potter movies, I enjoyed this one the most.
Its pace was better and it was also more exciting. I love Alan Rickman’s performance as Professor Snape. He is thoroughly convincing as the sneering and sour professor who is a constant thorn in Harry’s flesh. Gary Oldman was pretty good as Sirius Black as well. This is probably one of the few occasions where he’s playing the good guy.
The only thing I was disappointed with was that there wasn’t a full Quidditch match shown. Other than that, I loved all the magic and for those two hours it felt as if I was part of Hogwarts! Oh, wouldn’t that be fun????
