Best Lunch Spot

It’s been almost a year at my present job and it was only with this job that I started working in Central. In the course of a year, I have sussed out some nice spots where I can go for some quiet time away from the lunch crowds. I really hate queuing for food, which is why I decided last year that I’d cook more for myself. That decision has made me eat more healthily and I’ve also become a better cook as a result. But this post is about my favourite lunch spot which is sitting at any one of the benches along the promenade that runs along the Victoria Harbour from Sheung Wan to Wan Chai.

Why is it my favourite spot you ask? Well, for several reasons:

  1. It takes me away from the squeeze of lunch crowds.
  2. I get a great view of Kowloon and the hills behind it across the harbor.
  3. I can enjoy the sea breeze even if the air isn’t entirely fresh and crisp.
  4. I like the feeling the sun on my skin.
  5. There’s a lot of eye candy!

Now allow me to elaborate on point 5 – the eye candy I’m referring to comes in the form of many male lunch-time joggers. Ladies, if you are starved for eye candy, please head down to the Central ferry piers for a visual feast. This place, I’m convinced, has the most number of bronzed, sculpted topless hunks anywhere in Hong Kong from 12-2pm on week days. I don’t know where these men with rippling muscles are coming from (certainly not from my workplace I can assure you), but there is a constant stream of them during those two hours. Someone tell me where they work already! Once, while taking a stroll along the promenade as I usually like to do for some mid-day exercise, I had a group of about 25 Adonises running towards me, clad in nothing but their skimpy running shorts. Ooh la la, what a sight! Too bad I wasn’t in time to whip up my phone to snap a shot to allow my female compatriots to partake in this visual smorgasbord.

Discounting the occasional flabby ones, I have to say the Central ferry piers’ promenade has a pretty fine variety of male homo sapien specimens on exhibit. Don’t say I haven’t let you in on this vantage spot!
