Kowloon by Night

“Night hiking??!!?! How do you do that???”

“Er, we use headlamps,” I will reply to people who give me incredulous looks when I tell them I hike on weekday nights.

Apart from getting a good workout after a day at the office, one of the joys of night hiking is the fantastic view of the night scape. Sometimes, if hiking up to the Peak, we will be in time to see the fireworks from Disneyland. Other times while going uo to Jardine’s Lookout on the east of the island, we get to catch some of the lightshow action.

But what I think is nicest is this sprawling view of Kowloon from Sha Tin Pass. The dark of night not only masks the dirty facades of many old buildings in the Kowloon peninsula but also brings out the twinkling lights, vibrancy and urban beauty of this city that never sleeps.
