One of my songs du jour is Ellie Goulding’s Army which is essentially a love song about how someone stands by the person he or she loves despite naysayers.

I particularly like the chorus which has the lyrics I quoted above. I love how that simple sentence says so much with the imagery it conjures.

It would be nice to find that special someone who can be my army and me his. While this person is absent from my life at the moment, it doesn’t mean I don’t have my army.

My army comprises my family, close friends, and inner circle of friends.  They are the ones who are there to protect, defend and comfort me when I’m vulnerable. I am truly blessed to have them in my life.
