Had a lovely day out hiking at Tung Lung Chau 東龍洲 today. At one point towards the end of the hike, some of the hikers in my group went to grab a bite, while another hiker and I decided to venture to another spot on the island.
We got to a lookout point marked by a huge boulder and the other hiker decided she would meditate for awhile. I then went off to find my own quiet spot about 15m away. While my fellow hiker went to find her zen in the lotus position, I sat cross-legged on a flat rock and looked out to the sea and the boats passing through the channel.
I’m not good with this meditation and zen state of mind thing. But every time I’m out hiking and I get a chance to sit down and admire the scene before me, I get close to such a state. It’s a peaceful state of mind which is rare to achieve during the work week. Which is why I try to do at least one hike over weekends.
And so on this zen note, I end this year’s A-Z challenge!
