the different morsels of the life of a foodie

Feast Your Eyes

Ok, these are some of the yummy food I feasted on in Hong Kong. Believe me, I had a lot more than this, but just thought it was a bit embarrassing to go around taking photos of food all the time. Haha. I also went for dimsum on Sunday at Maxim’s restaurant at City Hall…that was ssssooooo yummy.
I love the wide variety of dimsum in Hong Kong! I love the food in Hong Kong! There are so many small eateries around. Everywhere you go, there’s always something to eat. I’m glad foodcourts are not the mainstay for food in Hong Kong. The small eateries, often family-run ones, are just so charming. Though cramped and small, I just love that whole setup. We also went for Japanese food and Indian food.
Macanese Pork Buns_blog
Had Macanese food that very night I arrived in HK. These are the delicious pork buns we ordered. We also had curry beef brisket, some vegetables and fried noodles.
Black sesame dessert 1_blog
On the recommendation of Joe, I had cold black sesame paste with these mochi balls. Divine.
Walnut paste and beancurd_blog
And as if the black sesame dessert wasn’t enough, I ordered one more bowl of dessert just ‘cos I HAD to try it. This is walnut paste with beancurd. First time I tried this combination. Yums. This lady waiting outside of the tiny shop was peering in and eyeing our table. But on seeing that Joe and I were ordering another bowl of dessert, great disappointment, according to Joe who was seated facing out, was spread all across her face. Haha. She must have hated us that very moment for depriving her of her food!
Green tea toast_blog
I had to give this a try as I was eyeing it on someone else’s table and it looked damn good. It’s some green tea paste on top of the toasted bread. The paste is slightly sweet and it soaks into the bread, making it slightly moist. Aahhhh…the thought of it is making my mouth water!
Korean pancake 1_blog
We had Korean food for dinner on Saturday night. This was one of the dishes we ordered. It’s Korean pancake. We were so full but yet we still headed for dessert and I had two bowls! (See above)
Street food 1_blog
Ah, my absolute favourite!!!!! Street food!!! I had curry fishballs, smelly beancurd, siew mai, beef balls, and some other meat ball which I just ate without knowing what it was. I just thought it looked good so just randomly pointed to it and bought it. Haha.
So as you can see, I was eating and eating and eating. It’s embarrassing–I think I matched up to the guys…actually maybe I ate more. Joe and Keith said they’ve never eaten so much in a long time and my being there was a good excuse for them to indulge. I guess they must be glad that I’m not there every week! :p
Oh god, I miss the food in Hong Kong already!
