Bag this! And that and that!

When even The Mother, who’s normally nonchalant about such things, makes barbs at the bag which you lug to work every day, you know it’s B-A-D, and it’s about time to do something to rectify the situation.
As you may have guessed, I have been lugging a grummy black bag to work almost every day. I didn’t really care ‘cos I just loved the bag. I can dump many things and it still holds despite it being so light and filmsy. Ok fine, I admit, grudingly, that it’s meant more for a casual day out than a day in the office. But I figured that no one sees me in the office anyway! I’m stuck in a basement office holed up in my cubicle and more often than not, my bag is stashed in a corner at my desk, which by the way looks like a warzone at this point in time ‘cos I have so many books and manuscripts piled high on it. It’s bad fengshui to have so much clutter! It’s blocking all the good chi from flowing in! Must try to edit and get rid of all the manuscripts asap!
Anyways, I’m a big bagger. I can’t survive with small bags. I don’t know how some women can survive with those miniature bags which can only put probably a packet of tissue! Man, those bags can’t even fit my wallet! I have a big fat wallet–no, it isn’t filled with money (I wished it were so!). Rather, it’s filled with receipts, MRT card, credit cards, ATM card, namecards, coins, and office access card. I like using long wallets hence there’s no way mine could fit into one of those small bags.
Also, I have to bring my foldable umbrella, something one shouldn’t leave home without at this time of the year in Singapore! My organizer (I’m still in the paper & pen Jurassic age and intend to stay that way), handphone, tissue paper, toiletries bag, some pens in case I need to write something down, and water bottle. Oh yes, and my book of the moment. Yah, I think that’s it.
So anyhow, I made it my mission of the night to buy a proper and more presentable bag for work. Met up with a good friend from uni for dinner at Din Tai Feng at Paragon where we shared some XiaoLongBao and a bowl of noodles with dumplings. They serve pretty good dumplings there. I’d only go there on a weekday (even then it’s so crowded!) ‘cos the queue on weekends is insane!
Anyway, I had my eye on a black bag which I saw couple of weeks back at a shop located in Paragon. So after dinner I went to the shop and bought it. Yipee! Mission accomplished! But I took things a little further–I bought ANOTHER bag. An off-white one. I mean, there’s always going to be clothes that would need an off-white one to match it right???? I figured one black and one white one will be able to take me through all work situations to complete that corporate look!
I just luurrvvee my thrifty ways–I get my pay today and I start splurging right away. I ought to be the assigned role model for young savers.
Below are my two purchases of the night and the last one is my purchase from the shop GOD (Goods of Desire) in HK. Three bags in one and a half weeks. That’s it–I’m checking myself into BA–Bagaholic Anonymous.
Black bag
The bag I was targeting at first.
Cream bag
The bag which HAD to be next to the one above.
Phoenix Bag
My phoenix mini tote bag–It’s beginning to turn me pious!
