So much for the proclamation in August that I owed it to myself as a writer to write every day. As it turns out I lapsed back into being a lazy writer.
Since the last time I blogged, I have flown back to Singapore, gone to Hong Kong for a week, gone to Laos for a week, and spent a total of eight weeks back in Asia. It’s been a while since I’ve spent such a long stretch of time in Singapore and it made me think to myself, “Hey actually I think I could live here again.”
For now, though, that’s not going to happen. My life is in Australia at the moment and I’m enjoying the city for its space and outdoor activities I get do. Don’t enjoy the high taxes that much though!
I thought I would pen something tonight as I’ll be turning 39 on 14 November. Oh man, how did this day come around so fast? The last year of my 30s has come around and I still feel sometimes as if I haven’t grown up. Where’s the husband and two kids I thought I was supposed to, or going to, have? Growing up, I remember thinking, “I’ll meet someone and marry by 28. Have a kid by 30 and maybe another a few years later.” Did not happen.
Now? I’m just thinking about when I can retire and how I can prepare for my retirement as a single.
After crossing the 35 threshold, I started to see and feel the changes in my appearance. The skin was less luminous, there were more fine lines on the face, there was more fat collecting around the tummy, and I just looked so much older. My uterus is also telling me that motherhood is less and less likely with the decreasing number of days my periods last. Oh well, such is life.
Anyway, hope my 39th year will be filled with more adventures and interesting stories to tell!
