The moon and the stars were nowhere to be seen last night as the clouds obscured everything. Nevertheless, my friends and I had a good time at Manly.
There were about 20 of us. Actually, I only knew 3 of the people there. But as you know with such outings, people ask their friends along and the entourage just gets bigger and bigger. We had 5 cars driving in succession towards the lookout point. You would think it’s some mob/gang. Haha.
We didn’t end up at the spot which I went to two weeks ago with the Conservation Volunteers. This was another spot, quieter and more secluded, but still just as lovely. We were on the top of the cliff and just over the edge of it we could see the waves from the Pacific Ocean hitting the side of the cliff. It was a long way down and you definitely wouldn’t want to go too close to the edge!
No moon, but it was nice to just enjoy the night. It wasn’t cold so that was good. We enjoyed hot tea and mooncakes as we chatted with each other. It seemed like an orientation during the first days of uni, where everyone had to do this self-intro ‘cos not everyone knew everyone. It was an interesting mix of people. Most of us were Chinese, but we all hailed from different countries and backgrounds. Amongst us, we also had a Japanese lady and a Vietnamese guy.
It was a lovely spot. One day I would like to go back in the day time. I would bring a book, a sandwich, a water bottle and spend the afternoon reading with the sound of the waves hitting the cliffs for music, the gorgeous view for company, and I would be the happiest person on earth!
