Am now eating 老婆饼 from the famous Hong Kong bakery 恒香 (Hang Heung) for breakfast. I bought the ones I’m eating now at the Chep Lap Kok airport. But for freshly baked ones, pick them up at their outlet at 元朗 (Yuen Long) in 新阶 (New Territories).
It’s damn yummy! The winter melon paste is not too sweet (which is how it should be) and it’s of the right texture and consistency–slightly chewy but still soft. The pastry isn’t too thick and so doesn’t mask the taste of the winter melon paste.
I’ve been stuffing myself with them ever since I got back. Terrible. As you can see, my eating hasn’t stopped!!!
