the different morsels of the life of a foodie

Bored at Work

I’ve found myself unbelievably free at work for almost this entire week. I don’t know why, but there haven’t been many editing requests for me or the other editors. I feel almost guilty sitting around and doing nothing which, contrary to popular belief, is quite difficult. So here’s what I do to kill time when I find myself in such a situation at work.
1. Write my blog – yup, writing this lame post at work
2. Refresh my Facebook page and Weibo homepage on my iPhone, er, like every 15 minutes or so
3. Reply to emails from friends
4. Read a story book which I place openly in front of me or read ebooks on my iPhone (I’ve completed two story books this week); thankfully I sit in a little corner where I’m somewhat hidden and it helps that I’m far away from my manager who hardly comes over
5. Surf the net and read online newspapers and magazines on subjects such as mindless entertainment news, or more serious social commentaries and financial news
6. Surf for post-graduate courses that might interest me or something I could study to get me out of this place eventually – oh man, I feel my brain going to waste. I need to study something to feel like I’m progressing!
7. Thinking and planning for my next meal(s) – well, it’s something to look forward to at least. I take my food very seriously ok…
8. Checking my hair for split ends (Argh…so many!) and snipping them off when I spot them – yes, a sheer sign of boredom
9. Chatting with friends and family on Whatsapp. Please message me – I will definitely reply and I’ll be glad to hear from you!
10. Read the hard copy of the South China Morning Post (Hong Kong’s main English newspaper) that is lying around in the office. The online version requires a subscription which I, of course, won’t pay for. The company might as well give me a personal subscription to the paper since I’m practically the only person on this floor who ever reads it!
Aiyoh, I’m so bored; I need something to do. If anyone knows of anyone needing a freelance writer, proofreader, copyeditor or sub-editor, could you please let me know? I’d like to take on freelance work to keep myself more occupied and really, it doesn’t hurt to have some pocket money. As it is, I still take on freelance work almost every month but I have time to do more. So I’d appreciate if someone sends something my way. Thank you!
Meanwhile, let me get back to twiddling my thumbs…
