After five months of procrastination, here’s a post I’ve been meaning to put up about a dessert spot I went to in Taipei last December. 金時良房 Golden Generations came highly recommended to me by the new Taiwanese friends I got to know at the detox retreat.

You’ll be spoilt for choice as you can customise your own dessert. You can choose to have soya beancurd, grass jelly or ice jelly with a host of toppings to choose from.

Your choice of toppings. I was greedy; I chose four! I had yam, peanut, sweet potato and red bean.

You can also opt for the traditional shaved ice – perfect for a hot summer’s day – to go with any of the toppings above. No, I wasn’t THAT greedy, this dessert was my friend’s.

While Golden Generations serves traiditional Taiwanese desserts, the experience of eating there is given a modern twist with the sleek, modern interior design of its outlet. At the alfresco dining area, I liked the combination of the solid wooden table with its beautiful brown wave-like grains contrasted with the pop of colour from the fuchsia covers for the chairs’ backs. And oh, can’t help but love the vertical garden in the background.

More evidence of the owners’ attention to detail to the interior decoration with the elegant black wooden beams showing ingredients used in their menu’s repertoire, with interwoven braids of maroon and purple fabric for bursts of colour.

A close-up of the wooden beams containing black beans, yellow beans and red beans.

The indoor dining area is also a picture of elegance.

Golden Generations is located in a small lane that could be easy to miss if you’re not a local.

Look out for the entrance above.
