I love green tea (aka matcha). I love scones. It goes to follow that I can’t help but love these green tea and red bean scones from Maria’s. Often, green tea flavoured food items lack the rich and slightly bitter taste of this Japanese ingredient because there isn’t enough of it in the recipe. These ones, however, pass my test with their intense matcha flavour coming through in every bite; well, with its small size all you need is two bites max to finish it off! Letting the green tea shine, the red beans take a back seat with only a faint taste to balance the bitter notes of the former. The scones sell for HKD4.3 each or HKD7.5 for two.
