It’s been six weeks since I have started on my part-time Masters. I love my university campus as it has the most magnificent view of Sai Kung’s Port Shelter. Food on campus is so cheap too – I was delirious when I first saw the prices on the menus in the canteens.
I’m taking two modules this semester and am enjoying the course content. It feels great to be in a place of learning again; I’ve really missed it.
Classes take place on Monday and Tuesday nights this semester and I have to rush to the university straight after work. It takes me an hour to get there and I just about make it for my 7pm class. It is tiring and my energy is sapped by Friday evening.
Still I appreciate this opportunity to learn and I’m glad I’ve chosen to do this. I’m geriatric compared to my classmates as they are all fledglings newly hatched from their Bachelor degrees. Most of them have also flown down south from the Motherland up north. Yes, I’m the old bird in the flock!
I think not being the ones to fork out money for their studies, these fledglings don’t appreciate being in school. I say that because almost all of them are tinkering on their phones while the lecturer is speaking – why bother coming to class at all? While I, having missed being in school, am all eyes and ears.
Anyway I have 2.5 years of studying to go and right now it seems like it’s going to take forever to graduate!
