Friday and Saturday were spent with my dear friends Monoceros, Overacuppa, VanTan & D. We’re trying to get D to start a blog since the rest of us have one already. In a way, our blogs help us to keep in touch with one another and so we’re egging her on to get one started!
We met for dinner on Friday night and it’s been about a year since the five of us got together. It was at Monoceros’ wedding last July which saw all of us in Singapore at the same time. It’s like an annual reunion since Overacuppa usually only drops by Singapore once a year.
We ate at an Indonesian restaurant which at first D was sceptical about ‘cos there weren’t many people inside when we reached there. But I assured the rest of them that I had eaten there before and it’s pretty good. After tasting the food, they concurred with me. I mean, I of all people would never eat at places which serve bad food! Haha!
After dinner, we adjourned to Coffee Club for dessert. VanTan, Monoceros & I had a lovely cup of hazelnut cinnamon latte each, while D & Overacuppa had a delicious-smelling pot of morning dew tea each. We also had a piece of chocolate cake and chocolate fondue to share. I love dipping those pieces of cut fruit in the fondue. Good fun! Anyhow, it was all very delicious. Terribly indulgent night of gastronomy, but who cares? It was a fantastic night — nothing beats the company of close friends and good food.
On Saturday afternoon, Overacuppa, D & I went to Monoceros’ house to view her wedding videos. We were in stitches as we viewed the videos and reminisced about the going-ons of Monoceros’ wedding.
At this point, I also have to remind Monoceros to look at her milk cartons more carefully in future. Intending to serve us soya bean milk, our hostess mistakenly served us fresh milk instead. Ever the sharp taster, I sensed something amiss as I drank it. Actually it’s ‘cos I usually don’t drink cow’s milk and I don’t like the smell of it. Haha…it was pretty funny….our little Monoceros was quite embarrassed….but no worries my friend! ;p
Overacuppa, D & I then left Monoceros’ place and the three of us went to have dinner before we headed back to my place where I went to get the car and proceeded to drive us three to the Night Safari.
The Night Safari was good fun! It was Overacuppa’s first visit whilst D & I had been there before. Still, it didn’t make it any less enjoyable. Sitting in the tram and having the deers, antelopes, cranes, tapirs etc roaming in such close proximity was quite an amazing experience.
The funniest part of the night was when we were in the bat enclosure. Overacuppa & D were terrified at the thought of going in but I egged them on by leading the way in. One of the bats flew really low and we had to crouch or else it would have flown into us! But that really scared the wits out of the two of them and they were rather hysterical. D’s terrified facial expression would do well in a Hitchcock film. Haha.
The fun-filled day ended with me sending the two girls home before heading home and snuggling into my bed.

A full moon lits the Mandai area in which the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari are located.
