the different morsels of the life of a foodie

Time Out

Yes, I have been lazy with my writing. Someone I knew from long ago had also left a comment to say I should write more about my experiences and less about food. It was a good reminder for me to pick up a part of me I seem to have lost of late.

Two Fridays ago, I took a day off work (my off in lieu for having worked on a public holiday a few weeks ago) and headed to Hap Mun Beach (半月灣) in Sai Kung for some time out at the beach. It had been a tiring few weeks, what with having to rush out a proposal at work, finishing up projects for school, preparing for project presentations, and studying for mt exams. I was on turbo gear for a few weeks, and after awhile, the mental engine just needed to slow down and take a rest.

What better way for doing that than heading to a beach to sun myself and just think of nothing but concentrating on the warmth of the sun kissing my skin, the movement of big fluffs of cotton against an azure sky, and the caresses of the invisible breeze? Bliss.

I had a book and some newspapers with me. But I didn’t read them. I needed not to think. For that short period of time I wanted to clear my brain of news clutter and was simply in no need of mental stimulation. I gave gratitude for being able to enjoy the gorgeous sunshine on a peaceful beach in my favourite part of Hong Kong.

Sometimes we just need such moments to stay sane, no?
