I love reading six-word memoirs and on occasion do submit my own to the website. I love how six words can say so much in so little.
The memoir in the title of this post was one I came across today on the website. Like a tearjerker set on loop mode, those six simple words convey the pain of love lost, the regret of past loves, the sorrow of a broken heart and the frustration of not being able to forget. The wealth of emotions and memories encapsulated in that sentence is a stark contrast to the brevity of it.
Perhaps we never truly get over someone. After all, these past loves are part of our life experience and play a part in where and who we are now. Occasionally one might think about the “What ifs…?”, and then sigh with a tinge of sadness when you realise, once again, that the “What ifs” are a waste of emotion and that the time you had together has long since passed.
